Mission
The mission of the A. I. Alikhanyan National Science Laboratory (Yerevan Physics Institute) Foundation is to conduct advanced research in physics, develop comprehensive scientific capabilities, and apply innovative scientific and technological solutions aimed at addressing the needs of the State, strengthening the security, education, healthcare, and economic systems of the Republic of Armenia, and responding to contemporary challenges.
The implementation of this mission is based on fundamental and applied research conducted in theoretical and experimental physics, elementary particle and nuclear physics, materials science, cosmic ray research, and accelerator technologies. Scientific progress is further supported through the introduction and development of high-performance computing methods in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
As a leading center in the fundamental sciences, AANL is committed to strengthening the interaction between “science and education” and “science and technology,” thereby enabling the Laboratory’s scientific potential to contribute more effectively to addressing contemporary challenges.
In this context, the existing experimental research infrastructure is of particular importance: the 75 MeV linear electron accelerator and the 18 MeV proton cyclotron (C18/18), which enable AANL scientists to carry out high-value research in the fields of nuclear physics and materials science.
