From September 28 to October 2, the “Days of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research” are being held in Armenia, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research (JINR) in Dubna. The series of events brings together representatives of Armenia’s scientific and educational institutions and JINR to discuss current areas of scientific cooperation, joint research programs, and opportunities for further development of collaboration. Within the framework of the program, scientific discussions and working meetings are being held at research and educational institutions in Armenia, along with organized visits.
On September 29, during a meeting held at the A. I. Alikhanyan National Science Laboratory (AANL), researchers from the Laboratory and JINR presented their scientific work and projects being implemented within the framework of cooperation. Opportunities for the development of joint research in particle physics, theoretical physics, radiation materials science, and other fields were discussed.
The events also addressed the application of artificial intelligence in science, industry, biomedicine, and materials science, as well as the expansion of scientific and educational programs and the development of research infrastructure.
The “JINR Days” will conclude on October 2 in Ashtarak and at the Nor Amberd Cosmic Ray Research Station. The program for the final day includes scientific presentations, visits, and discussions devoted to cosmic ray research, as well as to the history and further development of cooperation between JINR and the Armenian scientific community.
Armenia has been a full member of JINR since 1992. The cooperation developed over the course of decades plays an important role in advancing joint scientific research and professional ties. The anniversary events provide an opportunity to summarize the achievements of this cooperation and outline new directions for its further development.
