On October 21, representatives of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) and the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC) visited the A. I. Alikhanyan National Science Laboratory (AANL).
The delegation included Dr. Isabella Mashion, Deputy Head of Unit G.7 of the JRC Directorate for Nuclear Safety and Security, and Dr. Christos Charatsis, Policy Advisor at the ISTC.
The meeting was also attended by Susanna Gaginyan, Researcher at the International Center for Advanced Studies of the Institute of Physics of Yerevan State University; Nelli Gharibyan, PhD student at the Department of Nuclear Physics and Astrophysics of Yerevan State University; Ruben Dallakyan, Head of the Isotope Research and Production Division of AANL; Andranik Manukyan, Head of the Isotope Production Technology Development Group; and Artsrun Pivazyan, responsible for organizing international cooperation at AANL.
During the meeting, possible areas of scientific cooperation, formats of support for research activities, prospects for training young scientists at European scientific centers, and opportunities for accessing European research infrastructures were discussed.
As part of the visit, the delegation members visited the experimental halls of AANL’s linear electron accelerator and the proton cyclotron installed at the National Center of Nuclear Medicine to familiarize themselves with the laboratory’s experimental capabilities and the work being carried out in the fields of nuclear physics and applied sciences.
