A Seminar on “Alternative Descriptions of Particles and Their Applications” Was Held at AANL

On August 7 and 10, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Karapet Mkrtchyan (Imperial College London) held a seminar at the A. Alikhanyan National Science Laboratory on the topic “Alternative Descriptions of Particles and Their Applications.”

During the seminar, the description of short irreducible representations of the Poincaré and conformal groups (massless particles) was presented using the so-called spinor-helicity variables. The speaker explained how this approach makes it possible to describe particle properties and interactions more efficiently.

The potential applications of the method to the study of massive particles and spacetimes with constant curvature were also presented. During the seminar, participants had the opportunity to discuss the presented approaches and their applications in the context of current problems in theoretical physics.
